Hey. It's the end of the Z560 trial and as I'm one of the top 50 bloggers, I'm given the SGH-Z560 for free. No need to recontract somemore. Thanks to M1 and Samsung!!! However, as I find the phone to have some problems fundamentally, (Especially the 250/1000 sim card contacts saga) I decided to trade in the phone while its value is high. The trade in value is $300. So what's the reasons that I dun like the Z560?

1. Can only read 250 contacts from 3G sim card.
2. No memory card supplied.
3. No 3G reception underground. Let alone 3.5G. (MRT tunnel, basements of shopping malls etc)
4. Phone only capable up to 1.8Mbps. HSDPA max is 3.6Mbps. So there is room for a better HSDPA phone.
5. Speaker of phone not so fantastic.

So what phone I traded in for? The answer is Sony Ericsson K618I. I got the black color set. It is retailing for $128 at M1 shop and as I'm doing early upgrade, I need to pay $100 extra. So total $228. I traded in the samsung for $300 and so no need to pay a single cent. Muahahaha. But the thing that really makes me get the K618I is that they are giving a free Sony Ericsson PV700 Bluetooth Headset. Once I see that, I know I want it. Hehehe..Here's some pictures of it.

Singtel IPTV

Just got the Singtel IPTV installed. The settop box is a Motorola VIP1208AP. (HD enabled.) UI of the settop box is ok. Quite user friendly. (Like Windows Media Centre like that. Upon checks, I found out that it is running on Win CE 5.) Channel selection wise quite limited. (Because it's still trial.) Picture quality is good. Sound quality for some channels not so good. However, there is Mediacorp's HDTV channel available. Quality not bad. Taiwan channel wise, It's only 东森. Nothing much. Still got cheena station somemore.....Muahahaha. Anyway, the VOD is also not bad. Now watching Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. Quality is good. As good as DVD. So not bad lah. Used a component cable to connect to my TV. So now cannot watch the program, record lor.....muahahaha!!!

Did some test on the phone. Speed of accessing the net is fast. Provided I'm HSDPA coverage. Sometimes I may not get HSDPA speed (1.8Mbps) as I'm not in coverage. So sometime can only get 384kbps (3G speed) or sometimes just 2.5G GPRS speed when I'm in underground MRT train. Accessing video stream with HSDPA is fast and smooth. No need to do a lot of buffering. Watched MTV of Stephanie Sun and Josh Groban...Shiok....

Just got call from M1 that I got selected as trial user for the samsung Z560 HSDPA Phone. Hahaha..

Will collect the phone this sunday after 5pm.....Hohohoho..

When the IPTV comes on tuesday as well, I will be bz like mad doing reviews. Keep a lookout!

Thanks to my daddy, I now got a new Nokia 6280.....Muahahaha...

Finally 3G ah...

Waited so long.

But apparently, M1 3G network not so solid leh... Above ground all ok. Underground, only got 2.5G only. sianz.

Anyway, I just signed up for the HSDPA trial by M1 and Samsung. If dio, I will be a very happy man as I will be able to trial the latest technology once again. Just arranged for delivery and installation for Singtel IPTV trial next tuesday. Shiok......

Call me a guinea pig. But I always like to try something new.....

It has been 1 week since I'm using my precious macbook..It has served me well so far. Switching in between Windows and Mac is smooth. Both OS runs damn fast. (Thanks to the 2GB RAM!) Not to forget that I spend so much time to configure it from scratch...shiok..

It will be with me throughout my 3 years life in uni...!!!

Just got my Macbook yesterday morning(White 1.83Ghz, 60GB HDD, 2GB RAM)....The school's laptop shop's service quite screwup...Make me boil. (I should not go into detail here.) But nvm, I spent the whole night setting up my MACBOOK to run Windows XP using bootcamp.(Hehe!!!)Now it's all up and running....Will post some picts up soon...

Less than 2 months and it mati liao. Sianz…..WPA also cannot work 1. Sux man! Just go and buy a new Linksys WAG354G (802.11G ADSL2+ integrated Home Gateway). Now my wireless network is up with all shields. (MAC Address filtering, WPA-PSK, SSID Broadcast Off.) Hehe…..Shiok to the max!!!!!

I've been enjoying my PSP so far..

Now in my PSP, I have a 1GB Memory Stick that contains movies and some homebrews. I have also got a UMD game: Ridge Racer. Although it is one of the first game released for PSP, it is still an addictive game..

Thanks to the progress package!!! I will be a proud owner of a Sony PSP!!!!!

My sister will collect my set that I have reserved on my behalf. It's a black firmware 1.5 set. Made in Japan + 1GB MS Pro Duo!!!!

My Sister has just collected the set and my ex-colleague + Friend Derrick who secured the set for me told me that there are some surprises for me as well.......I can't wait!!!!!

OK Surprise is in! I got a PSP denim landyard, Denim UMD holder, GT4 Watch, Microvault handstrap and a Sony pen. A lot of freebies leh. Anyway, my set is a firmware 1.52 set. But not for long. I upgrade it to 2.0 and downgrade it back to 1.5. Now it stands at 1.5 firmware...Yippie!!!

Just a trip to IT show made me almost $200 poorer.....

Bought a creative sound blaster digital music SX external soundcard for $150 and some DVD-Rs.

Sounds good.....

Today I just bought 1 more earphone.....Cause my panasonic went dead...

Bought the Philips SHE7600....It is a landyard style earphone. Not bad. 30 bucks...

Since I've got my L6, I've did quite a lot of things to it....Customising tones, install Opera Mini, grouping contacts/tones, change settings etc etc etc.... Have a lot of fun. Today, It's payday and I've just bought two accessories to accompany my Sexy L6!

Say hi to a silicone case and a Motorola H500 Bluetooth Earpiece!

Now charging the earpiece....Will pair it later....

A quick summary of my experience with this phone...

The good:

Damn Sexy and slim!!!!!
Metallic....Solid!!!
Speaker is powerful
Ringtone is damn nice
PC Software is the best I have ever seen....(Can crop mp3...good!!!!)
Display is clear. (Although its just 65k STN..But not bad liao)
Can charge with USB..
Buttons are confortable to press
Category for contacts, ringtones (Just like PDA)
ez to send mass sms
Speakerphone is good
PC Sync is good
Phone status menu is good as it give u a good view of ur phone condition.(E.g: 6 bar battery meter, firmware etc)

The Bad:

Quick dial cannot rename
Menu name a bit not intuitive. (Send file via Bluetooth is called copy....Funny right?)

I just bought an one year old PS2 from my friend at quite a good price. It is a SCPH-39006 and it is MADE IN JAPAN!!!! Nice steal. I also bought some games...Will play with them soon!!!!! Mood: GEEKY!!!

My sis has bought a new Sony Cybershot DSC-T5. It is slim baby!!!! She paid $699 for it and it comes with a free original leather case and a free 512MB Memory stick pro. Nice!!! She opt to pay by 0% installment and I agreed to help pay 3 installments to be able to get some right to use the cam....hehehe...

BTW, in tomolo morning, I will lay my hands on the NEC N600i phone. I can't wait to lay my hands on it and I will be able to start posting to this blog with the phone using MSN Spaces mobile beta. Hurray!!!

New BT Earpiece

Hehehe....My gadgeteer in me has cause me to get more and more new gadgets.....After the new phone and new earpiece yesterday, I got myself another earpiece. It is the iTech Stereo BT earpiece. It not only act as a BT earpiece, It can also connect via wire to my audio player to allow me to listen to music. When a phone call come in, a switch will allow me to pick up my call immediately.... Nice! BTW, Did I mention that it is stereo? It is. So when I listen to people on the phone, it is not mono! It sells at shops for around $58. But I got it off a trade with my brother in law. I traded a 802.11g PCI adapter + some top up for it. Quite a good deal.

Yah!

I got a new toy-New Handphone. It's a Nokia 6021. Maybe u may ask me why I switch back from SE to Nokia. Well, the few reasons are:

It's cheap and it's with Bluetooth!
It's nice to feel on hand
Looks classy
No camera.....can bring to camp
65k screen
Nice polyphonic

and the list goes on and on.

Overall, it's a nice phone and I hope that this phone will give me good experience with nokia again.

BTW, I bought a V3 earpiece to complement it.....See pic below

Got my mp3 player back

Sent in my mp3 player in 2 weeks ago. It's a Philips HDD060. (1.5GB Hard disk based.) It died on me. Hard disk failure....Service centre say beyond economical repair and they will replace it with a new (Luckily warranty expire in end April! Phew!) HDD070. (2.0GB hard disk based + FM Tuner!!!!) That's the good news. But bad news is I need to wait till early may for shipment to arrive. What the.... I'm going to fly off to brunei at 29 April 0230hrs and there is no way that I will leave without my mp3 player. NO WAY! So I ask them to beg/borrow a set for me.....They managed to get it on Monday and they suggest that I go down on tuesday to collect it as they want to test it first before handling it to me. Ok. On tuesday, bad news again. the set they have is not retaining charge. So they have to get a new set. OK wait again. Today I receive a call from them at 3pm asking me to go down and collect my set. yippie....So I rush down to their service centre at toa payoh to collect it. When I reach the service centre, I get my queue number and I was attended to immediately as the service centre is not busy. The staff pass me my new mp3 player and it comes with manual, CD-ROM and decoration sticker. Nice. Now it is sitting on my table. Awaiting me to fill it up with my collection of songs! But sianz....tomolo will fly to brunei liao......haiz...Will miss a lot of things....
