Hi everyone!

The icons on the top of my posts are very prominent right? These are useful stuff for u to interact with me! Let me give u a walkthrough of them!

1st u see the site's stats. This give me and u a good idea of how many ppl have drop by at my cyber home!

2nd icon u see is my feed icon. I have mentioned in 1 of my previous post about it. Basically it allow u to subscribe to my site's feed. So u will be able to read it anytime.

3rd icon is the MSN MESSENGER Icon! Click on it to start a chat session with me. U will be able to reach me if I'm online! (SORRY. IE+Messenger 7.5 ONLY!)

4rd icon u see is friendster. Click on it to access my friendster profile and add me!!!!

5th icon is the copyright logo.....My site is on a creative commons license! Read the license to know what u can do with my posts and images!

Virus disguising as Windows Live Messenger Installer

From news.com : A virus masquerading as a new beta version of Microsoft's MSN Messenger has begun circulating, antivirus company F-Secure said on its blog Tuesday. The virus, which F-Secure calls Virkel.F, comes as a file called BETA8WEBINSTALL.EXE that can be downloaded from a Web site. Running the program installs not a new MSN Messenger beta, but rather a virus that sends download links to a computer user's MSN Messenger buddies. The virus falsely labels the link as "MSN Messenger 8 Working BETA." "It also connects your machine to a botnet server," F-Secure warned, meaning that a person's computer can be controlled remotely to attack other machines or send spam. Malicious software that uses instant messenger programs is growing more common. A November study by Akonix Systems identified 62 examples. And Microsoft's instant-messenger infrastructure is the most popular conduit for attack, IMlogic said in an October study.

Hehehe! Just installed the Windows Vista Transformation Pack 3.0...Looks damn nice.... Removed the sidebar as it takes up too much system resource..... Other than that, everything else looks damn nice....Especially the transparency effect.....Mamamia!!!

Tired ah...

Formatted my laptop and reinstall all my stuffs from yesterday till now. Phew. This is what I call large scale overhaul. Windows need it once a while. HAHA!!!

Anyway, the main reason of doing the reformat is to cleanup the mess left behind by the SQL Server 2005 CTP as I did not remove it properly. So no choice. I have to format my laptop to clean it up so that I can install the final version of it that I have received. So I spend the whole night to reformat and patch up my system to SP2 and all the tonnes of patches from microsoft. Thanks MS! My Office 2003 also refuse to be updated to SP2. This cleanup will solve it too. So JUST DO IT!

Then after that it is install spree. I have taken down a list of my past installed applications. I take this time to eliminate those unnecessary ones. So that I can have a cleaner/neater system. So I install back my applications 1 by 1. Eventually, I install the SQL Server 2005 and Visual Studio.net 2005.

Once I finish installing the both huge applications, I start to play with them. VS.net 2005 has a lot more controls this time. Many new controls........Programmers nowadays are getting better lives now. Instead of playing with C++ codes to play with serial port in windows in the past, a .net serialport class is all u need to play with serial port now. DAMN IT!!!! Imagine I have that during my FYP days.....HAIZ!

I'm having a lot of fun with the new controls. I'm also playing with the starter projects by Microsoft which includes a Screensaver. Nice! I wish I have more free time to play with them.

Phew!

MS has given me a very bz morning. But I'm happy!

They have launched a new service called Windows Live! (Beta now) and I'm now a happy user.

Basically, Windows Live (www.live.com) is a reincarnation of their start.com (At www.start.com) service. Start.com used to be my start page in IE. But now live.com takes over.

So what is this start.com (or rather live.com now) thingy?

New Stuffs on MSN

Hmmm....This week there's a lot of stuff from MSN that I've installed. I've played with the powertoys for MSN Spaces (Custom HTML, Windows Media Player and Tweak UI), MSN Messenger 7.5 beta build 0244, MSN toolbar with desktop search and MSN Screensaver beta. Nice stuffs. Kudos to the MSN team for these great works. All of these new tools works damn well with MSN spaces and love them all. U can read up more on these tools and new stuffs on the blogs of the MSN team. (I've put a link under friend's blog list.) Below is a summary of the new stuffs.

MSN Spaces Power toys:

Custom HTML: Allow u to put in ur own HTML tags to customise ur Space.
Windows Media Player: Embed a Windows Media player into ur spaces for u to play any media online.
TweakUI: Customise ur font colors, background etc for ur spaces.

MSN toolbar with Desktop search:

Search ur desktop and the web at 1 go.
Button to launch ur Messenger, Hotmail, Spaces etc.

MSN Screensaver beta:

Display images from ur hard disk
Display RSS feeds from the intenet.
Display images and blog entries from u and ur friends' MSN Spaces.

I love all these features. But wait a minute. I have also read about the ultimate product that is in beta now. That is Mail Beta! It can well be the gmail killer. It offer a lot of features that are currently available in gMail. (2.0GB++++++++++++++++++ Storage and many other features) It is only open to a small group of people for beta and beta tester need a hotmail account to be able to use this. Hmmmm.....If I am given an invite, I will get myself a hotmail account again. Guys at redmond, if u are reading this, can I have an invite?

Wow. Now my gMail account is at a large size of 2051MB. (Approximately 2GB) Nice! I love gMail and it has served me well so far. For those who want to get an invite, message me!
